Are you at Risk?

Seasonal influenza

Everyone is at risk of getting seasonal influenza. It passes easily from person to person through droplets expelled from the nose and mouth of an infected person. These droplets can pass directly into the nose, mouth or eyes of a person who is nearby (less than 1 meter, or 3 feet, away) or indirectly when a person touches surfaces that droplets have fallen onto and then touches his or her nose, mouth or eyes before washing hands. Crowded, indoor environments may promote the chances of such transmission, which may explain the increase in respiratory infections during the winter months.

Info on the Influenza A(H1N1) Pandemic

Introduction

What is the new influenza A (H1N1) virus that has been causing recent outbreaks globally?
The recent outbreaks of disease in people globally are caused by a new influenza (or “flu”) type A (H1N1) virus. There is a human H5N1 virus circulating and causing seasonal influenza and in the past, very occasionally, H1N1 viruses from swine have infected humans. The specific type of the H1N1 virus causing illness now is new or “novel” and in the current outbreak it is clear that this virus is able to infect humans and be passed from person to person. Although part of the virus may have originated from pigs, there is no evidence that the current spread of infection is coming from that source.

The Wellness Dancercise Classes took the Blue Wave Strip Mall by storm as more than 60 participants danced their way to fitness through the guidance of Jam Aranda from the Benilde Romacon Dance company under the artistic direction of Christine Crame-Santillan. Using a combination of stretching & aerobic work for fitness & wellness integrating hip hop & jazz dance techniques, the very energetic and fired-up participants had a great time while keeping up with the equally energetic instructor.

Everyone had a taste of what the benefits of massage therapy can do for the body as Rommel explained the different modalities and other types of massages that anyone can receive.

The next presentor was Joy Sta. Theresa from Fusion Excel who presented the benefits of Scalar Energy that is present in Quantum Science pendants. Scalar energy enhances the bio-electric field of the body that works to facilitate cell permeability and thereby enhances the many physiological functions of the cells in the body. Simple demonstrations showed how scalar energy can instantaneously improve the strength and balance of the body - without even drinking or taking anything.

Our certified nurse Noela Lectura from Beauty and Wellness Options Incorporated, the sponsor for the FREE Alkaline-Plus Water that the participants enjoyed, presented the benefits of drinking alkaline water for health disorder management, body weight management, beautiful skin and hair and healthy food. Beauty and Wellness Options Inc also provided FREE Live Blood Analysis for our participants for them to gauge how healthy their bodies are using this quick but reliable method.

Finally, everyone had a healthy breakfast courtesy of Han Wok Chinese Cuisine Blue Wave outlet. While breakfast was being served, Anahata Foundation gave and AV presentation on Wellness and what it means in our lives.

It was truly an action-packed morning that satisfied both minds and bodies of our participants that they could not wait to get more! So stay tuned for more Wellness Weekends at Han Wok Chinese Cuisine - Blue Wave.
